In Clevedon has been developed by two local web designers. We were motivated because we felt there was no central website, nor printed publication, that concentrated exclusively on our local area. Quite simply, we were fed up with the lack of local information available for local people! We saw a need and, as web designers, we decided to do something about it.
There are many websites offering to give information about our local area. But we have not, as yet, found one that is Clevedon based. They seem to have little or no knowledge of Clevedon. Most are based on the ability to pay and have very few businesses listed. So we broke the mould to allow every Clevedon trader a free entry.
Printed directories will always be challenged to keep up to date and feature new businesses. But because we are internet based www.inclevedon.co.uk can add and delete quickly and have the changes appear on the website in minutes. As the majority of homes now have internet access, www.inclevedon.co.uk provides an invaluable resource for both local people and local businesses.
Once we had created the website (it's taken over a year to compile this information!) we felt that we could do even better by attaching a messageboard to the website to encourage visitors to share information about Clevedon. The messageboard is the ideal place to share news of special offers and ask questions of other visitors about where to find the things they're looking for. Constantly we hear on the news that we should try to rationalise our consumption of fossil fuels. What better way to make a difference than to use local traders! By doing so, we save time, money and the environment. We also help local traders to prosper.
